ARMED POLICEMEN INVADES KEKE, OKADA RIDERS WORKSHOP

There was a mild drama yesterday in Abeokuta when heavily armed policemen in Ogun State disrupted an enlightenment workshop organised for commercial tricycle and motorcycle riders across the state on safety throughout this year’s ember months.
The workshop was organized by the National Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association, NACTOMORAS, with the theme, “Road Accident Prevention/Control and Drug Abuse.”
But as the event was about to commence, armed plain-clothes policemen invaded the Adebisi Omoyinmi Hall venue of the workshop located along Ayetoro Road, Abeokuta and ordered the over 2,000 guests and participants already seated to immediately vacate the hall.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Adegoke Adetunji and his other officers; the representatives of the state-owned Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, the National Association of Seadogs, popular known as the Pyrates’ Confraternity, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and other agencies who were already seated on the high table, had to hurriedly leave the hall.
According to the programme of events for the workshop, the FRSC, NDLEA and others had been listed to deliver lectures on “Road Accident Prevention,” “Effects of Drug Abuse” and “Safety,” respectively to the okada riders at the workshop.
