5 PEOPLE KIDNAPPED FROM SCHOOL, 25 MILLION DEMANDED

Monday, Rundele High School, Agba-Ndele was raided by gunmen and took away about five persons, composed of an NYSC members serving in the school, a civilian security attached to the school, and three other teachers from the school.
The kidnappers of five secondary school teacher in Agba-Ndele community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State have demanded 25 million naira as ransom for the release of the teachers.
So far, the visit of the gunmen to the school has ruptured the peace enjoyed by the people of the area leaving the people in total fear and tension.
Five days after the abduction the teachers are yet to regain freedom, although, contact has been established with the abductors.
The Community Development Committee, CDC, chairman of Agba-Ndele, Mr. Ikechi Chimezie disclosed that contact has been established with the gunmen and that they (the kidnappers) are demanding 25m to free the five persons in their custody.
Chimezie said that the community does not have such money to pay for the release rather called on the kidnappers to please free the teachers unconditionally

GUNMEN KILLS SECURITY GUARD IN SPDC

A security guard, Austin Igwe working at the Kolo Creek Oilfields operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bayelsa state. According to NAN, the gunmen stormed the oilfield in the early hours of today and in the process shot the deceased.

A relative of the victim who spoke on condition of anonymity said;

“We heard that unidentified gunmen had attacked Shell facility and that our brother who was on duty fell to their bullets, we got here and found out that it was true. The pain is too much to bear, this is tragedy for us, please I am short of words,”.
The remains of the deceased has been evacuated by policemen from Ogbia Division and troops of Operation Pulo Shield (OPPS)

BANK RAIDED BY GUNMEN IN AKWA IBOM

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Wednesday raided a branch of First Bank along Ibekwe Road, Ikot Abasi Urban, Akwa Ibom State.
A police vehicle detailed for the rescue operation somersaulted along the way and a police sergeant died in the process, while other policemen sustained serious injuries.
The robbers numbering about 18 reportedly stormed the bank at about 11:45am and carted away undisclosed amount of money.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers were dressed in military camouflage. They shot sporadically into the air on arrival at the bank to scare away passersby and customers.
The robbery operation was said to have lasted for an hour.
IT was gathered that as the operation was going on, the robbers loaded stockpiles of cash into a waiting vehicle parked outside the bank premises and sped off.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Cordelia Nwawe, confirmed the incident.
Nwawe said no arrest has been made, but police operatives have been deployed to Ikot Abasi to fish out the robbers.
